DIRECTOR BIO

Mr. Whapham has directed the Theatre Program at Sycamore High School since the fall of 2005.  Mr. Whapham received the Outstanding Theatre Educator Award from the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Mr. Whapham earned his bachelor's degree from Miami University and Master's degree from Xavier University  He is licensed a K-12 licensed Theatre and Music Teacher by the State of Ohio.

Previously, Mr. Whapham was the Theatre Director of Herndon High School, a 2500-student Fairfax County public school, just outside of Washington, D.C.  In 2004, Mr. Whapham served as the Technical Director for the Cappies National Theatre Program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Under Mr. Whapham's Direction, AVES Theatre and its students have won numerous awards including Superior Ratings by Greater Cincinnati High School League and Best Musical Awards by The Greater Cincinnati Cappies program. Many AVES Theatre students have won prestigious Overture Award Scholarships sponsored by the Cincinnati Arts Association.

Several of Mr. Whapham's former students been accepted to the top collegiate theatre programs including  NYU, CCM, Pace, Boston Conservatory,  Ithaca and many others.

Mr. Whapham founded Sycamore Summer Theatre, LLC in 2006.  The program serves over 100 students annually.
